I’m not fully sure when it began to grow, but it has now been a staple curiosity of the backyard ecosystem for several weeks now and has even spawned several unsucessful artistic forays. Behold something straight out of my imagining of Lewis Carroll’s imaginings.

if that’s an oak tree you’re in deep trouble, man. First sign of troubled tree that will fall, and those things have roof magnets in them. Dig that mushroom out and don’t let it reproduce.
And if it’s not an oak, just sautee that bad boy with some carmelized onions and have a lovely addition to sandwich or pasta.
